Circa 1780 British Cavalry Officer's Sabre
by Osborn (Osborne) for sale |
Rare late 18th Century British light cavalry officer's sabre by
Osborn (before he changed his name to Osborne) and scabbard.

A rare sabre in very good condition for its age, datable to pre-1785
courtesy of the fact the maker Henry Osborn changed his name to
Osborne at that time.

This sabre is in very good condition for its age, the 32.5 inch
blade with a little rust patination as you would expect but firm
in the hilt. The leather grip worn thin and lacquered over but sound.
The leather scabbard tired but still in good order; the upper fitting
missing its frog stud. This is a lovely old rare sword and good
investment at £700. Further / full sized photos available
upon request. Sword reference number 266 / Box69-1m.
