1788 Pattern Heavy British Cavalry Trooper’s
Sword (sold) |
Scarce 1788 Pattern heavy cavalry sword for a trooper, in fair
to good condition.

Increasingly rare 18th Century British cavalry trooper's sword;
a single edged backsword. Most likely made by Gill, though the maker's
single letter initial is not visible any more. The blade is in good
order and firm in the hilt. The fishskin grip has split one side
and has been waxed or painted top preserve what there is. There
is an old repair to one bar of the lower guard, almost certainly
done during its service life. Further pictures available upon request.
