1821 Patt British Heavy Cavalry Trooper's
Sabre For Sale |
A scarce British 1821 P cavalry trooper's sabre with original
scabbard made by Enflied and dated 1849.

A rare sword, made in 1849 by the government owned Enfield small
arms factory. On the scabbard there appear to be regiment markings
under the browned finish, but I have decided not to try and determine
what these are by removing it. Perhaps this sword was involved in
the less famous but militarily more accomplished Charge of the Heavy
Brigade, which preceded the infamous Charge of the Light Brigade
in 1854. I will let someone else determine if they want to remove
some of the browning to see if this sabre has anything there to
make it significantly more valuable than the price I have put it
here for.

Slightly curved, fullered 35.5 inch blade is in very good order,
is firm in the hilt and sheathes very well in the scabbard. Marked
to the ricasso / forte as shown. I would accept £800 for this
very good condition example of a scarce sabre. Additional photos
available upon request. Item reference number 119 / Box67-1.18m.
