1857 Pattern British Royal Engineer Officer’s
Sword (sold) |
Victorian 1857 Pattern Royal Engineer Officer's sword with family
crest and other etching.

Scarce and very beautiful British Royal Engineer Officer's Sword
with much of the fine etching (including VR Royal Cypher for Queen
Victoria) remaining, if a little worn through being polished many
times. Unfortunately the maker name is no longer visible as the
ricasso has been over-polished. Family Crest and Latin motto still
partially visible; believed to be "Sermoni consona facta"
("Deeds agreeing with words") used by Collins, Devon and
Trelawney families. 83.5 cm blade firm in gilt brass hilt, fishskin
missing, grip bindings loose and one section missing. Spine has
serial number of 97578. Further pictures available upon request.
