Edward 7th Named North Staffordshire Regiment Officer's Sword (sold)

In very good condition, an 1897 pattern British infantry officer's sword with scabbard and all weather bag to named officer of the North Staffordshire Regiment.

It is so very rare to find these swords in such very good condition. This one looks brand new from a distance, though it is an antique, around 100 years old or more, made during the realm of King Edward 7th.

With an all weather bag which partly explains why it is in such good order, the bag marked inside to the original owner, J H Porter of the 6th battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment, Burton on Trent. An excellent opportunity exists to do some research on the man of course.

The 32 inch blade in especially good condition, very well etched and firm in the hilt. The hilt in excellent shape too with superb fishskin grip with the ring bindings (twisted grip wire) all present and correct. A lovely and unusual steel and leather scabbard, having a fold in the leather near the chape but otherwise in good general order. Leather sword knot and all weather bag.
