1897 Pattern George 5th Infantry Officer's
Dress Sword (Sold) |
In very good condition, a George 5th (WW1 Era) British Infantry
Officer's Dress Sword.

A superb display item; the sword hilt and scabbard absolutely sparkle
on this World War 1 era 1897 pattern British infantry officer's
dress sword. The 32 1/2 inch etched blade has some patina but the
plated scabbard is virtually flawless (a wear area around one suspension
ring one side and a thin wear line around the lower section), as
is the hilt. The fishskin grip and ring bindings (twisted grip wire)
are in very good order. The grip has a little play against the backpiece
/ things are a little loose but not much and as sheathed swords
go, this is certainly a stunner. Further / full sized images available
upon request. My item reference number is 461 (13).
