Victorian British Royal Naval Officer's Sword
(sold) |
An interesting British Royal Navy Officer's sword, Victorian.

An interesting Victorian British Royal Naval officer's sword because
of a period label attached to the washer / buffer; this sword was
once used as a ceremonial sword at one or more Royal Navy Officer's
weddings. I have included a photo of the label below if anyone wants
to try and work it out, what it once said in full.
The 31 inch slightly curved blade has got patches of patina for
sure, but when sheathed in its scabbard this is quite a good display
piece with much gilt remaining to the hilt, the leather of the scabbard
in good order, the fishskin grip and ring bindings (twisted grip
wire) in good condition, the sword knot clean for its age and the
folding guard complete and working fine.

Further / full sized photos available upon request. My item reference
number is 474.
