1821 Pattern RTC / Royal Artillery ERII Sword
by Wilkinson (sold) |
A very good condition Queen Elizabeth 2nd 1821 pattern Royal Transport
Corps / Royal Artillery sword by Wilkinson.

This is an 1821P British Royal Artillery officer's sword but marked
for an officer in the Royal Transport Corps, which actually makes
it rarer than if it were marked for the Royal Artillery. A small
emblem with almost indiscernible "Royal Transport Corps"
inscription where you would normally find the RA motif. So, should
a serving RA officer be on the look out for a current monarch Wilkinson,
this should serve the purpose well.

The impressive 33 3/4 inch blade, serial number 98124 for 1970,
is well etched but does have a good amount of small light patina
spots (blemishes caused by natural staining); it is none the less,
firm in the hilt. The hilt is in very good order with the nickel
plating, black fishskin and twisted wire ring bindings in very good
order, I would say parade ground condition. The leather scabbard
is also very good but the suspension loop is cracked (leather glue
can be purchased to strengthen and disguise this). Overall, a lovely
sword and well worth £500. My reference number is 567 (205).
