Initialed 1912 Patt British Cavalry Officer's
Sabre by Wilkinson (sold) |
A good 1912 pattern British cavalry officer's sword by Wilkinson,
1922, with original owner's initials etched on blade.

A lovely sword by the king of British sword makers, Wilkinson.
A 1912P cavalry sword for officers made in 1922 with the serial
number 59741 to the spine (the original owner can likely be researched
for 17 GBP as the original Wilkinson sales ledger still exists).
The original owner's initials "A. B. G." etched to the
blade.

In overall good to very good condition. The 33 inch blade, etched
to King George 5th, has some black rust patches but not too many,
and is firm in the hilt. The bowl guard has lost some nickel plating
near the edge on one side, but is overall very good, some loss also
to the inner bowl where it really doesn't matter too much. The fishskin
grip and twisted grip wire bindings in good order. Sheathes well,
the leather field scabbard in good condition, as is the original
leather sword knot. Further / full sized photos available upon request.
Item Ref: 648 (272).
