Sales enquiries

Yes, yes, I know it is well and truly aged; ALL Victorian era 1895P Scottish sargeant's broadswords are because they had very long and arduous service lives; this is an issued War Department sword and the British Government squeezed every last second of life out of them. This sword was almost certainly in service for the Boer War and WW1. So, if you want one of these swords, you can have it in any condition you like from a rust pile all the way up to the highest possible condition "well worn", which is what this one is, one of the best examples you will find.

A very scarce sword because there were so few made and those that were often did not stand the test of time for one reason or another. The plain single narrow fullered 31 1/2 inch blade is marked with the name of "Robt Mole Birmingham" and crown (acceptance mark) over "B" over "21". The blade is still firm in the hilt, the hilt is in good shape, a little dented here and there but nothing too much, age tarnished yes, but the fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings are in very good shape. Truly, this is a well above average example and was probably held by some very demanding burly Scottish sargeant in some pretty unpleasant conditions. You may not ever see another one for sale, so £700 is a very fair price. Additional / full sized photos available upon request. My item reference number is 820 - Box 349-1m.
