Victorian 1827 Pattern British Royal Navy
Officer's Sword for sale |
In good condition, a well above average Victorian British Royal
Navy officer's sword.

Marked at the ricasso to Joliffe (late Victorian outfitters) of
Devonport, this is an impressive royal naval officer's sword in
good condition.

The 30 inch slightly curved blade is in good condition, a little
worn, the etching still mostly clear, and is firm in the hilt. The
hilt in above average condition with some gilt remaining, the fishskin
grip a little grubby but in good shape, as are the twisted grip
wire bindings. The leather and gilt fittings scabbard is a little
aged but still sound; the scabbard locking pin and folding section
of the guard still doing what they should. The sword knot is clearly
a later addition.
Victorian naval swords are increasingly scarce and mostly in very
poor condition, so this sword is worth the £600 I need to
part with it. Further / full-sized pictures available upon request.
