1831P Victorian British General's Mameluke
Sabre with ivory grips for sale |
An authentic British infantry / army general's mameluke sabre
with good clear etching to the blade and original brass scabbard.

A rare British general staff officer's mameluke sabre; be careful,
the vast majority on the market are reproductions with plastic grips;
I 100% guarantee this to be an authentic ivory gripped Victorian
general's sword. Yes, although you can plainly see it is genuine
ivory, I have ensured the grip is ivory using the so called "hot
tip" test.

A lovely sword with etched 32 inch blade still very clear. The
blade is firm in the hilt but the hilt has suffered somewhat the
test of time. The ivory is chipped both sides (can be repaired with
piano ivory repair paste) and the pommel roundel (a circular piece
of brass) is missing, so the grip is a little loose either side;
again, easily restored. The sword sheathes and draws well, the original
brass scabbard with some age and dents but still looking very good.

An impressive sword that will display very well indeed and should
do nothing but strongly appreciate in value. Yours for £500.
