1821 Pattern Victorian British Light Cavalry
Officer's Sabre (sold) |
In very good condition, a circa 1860 quality British light cavalry
officer's sabre.

Marked to the prestigious sword cutler Andrews of 9 Pall Mall London,
this is a very good quality 1821P cavalry officer's sabre in very
good though slightly worn condition.

The impressively well etched 32 inch blade was once (period) professionally
sharpened (does not detract from the blade at all) and there is
one small nick to the forward cutting edge section, so who knows
what stories this sabre could tell. The blade is firm in the hilt.
The hilt in very good order, some previous slight rust pitting.
The fishskin grip is sound and good but worn through use / being
held. The twisted grip wire bindings are in good shape. The blade
sheathes and draws well in its original steel scabbard which is
also in good order, with some slight pitting. A very good buy at
£350. Further / full sized images upon request. My item reference
number is 888 (398)
