Japanese Kodachi 14th C Blade signed Shizu
Saburo Kaneuji (sold) |
In WW2 military katana mounts, the blade is believed to be early
14th Century and is signed "Shizu Saburo Kaneuji".

This short sword "kodachi" was bought by me without a
hilt, just the saya and tsuba, which clearly is wrong for the saya
as it has no hole for the leather retaining strap. I had a hilt
added.
The blade's tang is signed "Shizu Saburo Kaneuji" who
was one of the very best Japanese swordsmiths ever and if the blade
is authentic to him would be worth a great deal of money. The blade
is in need of a good polish to say the least. It has several nicks
to the cutting edge but which are not "fatal". The hamon
is just visible. Irrespective of who made it, it is a very, very
old blade.

I would be prepared to accept £800 for this sword. Further
pictures available upon request. Item reference number 110 (79)
