British Naval Lieutenant's Sword

A lovely WW1 era British navy lieutenant's sword, scabbard, knot and belts in mostly good to very good condition; all weather bag worn / as found.

In mostly very good condition this is a lovely complete example of a WW1 era British junior naval officer's sword, belts, etc. Although the blade is not marked to any cutler or retailer on the ricasso (which implies it was WW1 made), the belts are marked to "E W Cracknell, Naval Outfitter, 23A Elm Grove, Portsmouth" which dates it from 1914 to 1929.

With the British Royal Coat of Arms nicely frost etched one side of the blade (pre-Edward 8th naval swords did not have the current monarch's royal cypher) and fouled anchor the other, the 31 inch blade is simply marked "London Made" along the spine. The blade has just two or three patina spots and is firm in a very good condition hilt (black fishskin, ring bindings and folding guard all very good). It sheathes well into the scabbard which has a few areas of tarnish and wear to the fittings, but not too much, and some compressions or wear to the leather, but again not too much. The sword knot is complete and in good order. The all weather bag is worn but nice to have. The belts are in very good order.
