Fine WW1 George 5th British Naval Officer's
Sword by Firmin (sold) |
Very good condition George 5th (WW1 era) British naval officer's
sword, scabbard and all weather bag by Firmin; owner's initials.

A well made Firmin of London WW1 era (George 5th) British naval
officer's sword in very good order, complete with scabbard, knot
and all weather bag; the later marked with the original owner's
insitials "F.W.L."

31 inch straight blade very nicely grey etched with British Royal
Coat of Arms one side and the traditional fouled anchor the other.
Blade (some slight tarnishing / tiny rust spots here and there)
firm in the hilt, fishskin and wire bindings (twisted grip wire)
in very good order, gilt still quite bright, sword knot in good
order, folding section of guard locks onto scabbard pin as it should,
scabbard well preserved, the gilt fittings a little dull, the all
weather bag sound but aged (I have applied leather balsam to preserve
it) and end slightly bent with stitching loose (clearly the sword
was stored in the bag standing up for some time).
