WW1 / George 5th Scottish Officer's Cross-Hilt
Broadsword for sale |
Very good condition, WW1 era officer's cross-hilt broadsword for
the Seaforth / Cameron / Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders

Increasingly scarce cross-hilt in very good condition (scabbard
has weak area); the pommel and quillon finals indicating this was
carried by an officer for either the Seaforth, Cameron, or Argyll
and Sutherland Highlanders. Retailed by Sanderson Brothers &
Newbould of Sheffield, the 32 1/2 inch blade nicely etched and with
a few small rust spots, nothing serious, firm in the hilt. The fishskin
grip in very good order, some tiny areas of wear, with the ring
bindings (twisted grip wire) present and firm. The leather field
service scabbard has some blemish areas, probably where old sticky
tape was once placed around it, and one crack weak area, but generally
good and firm. A very attractive piece and only £600. Further
/ full sized images available upon request. Item reference code
323.
