I am actually a collector of swords who started selling a few
items from my collection in order to improve it. Then, as my hobby
and collection grew, I increased my sales efforts in order to keep
my "stock" (collection) down to a reasonable size! Basically,
I found myself needing to sell more in order to collect more.
Originally I sold through eBay, but had many issues with them after
they decided to prohibit all swords on eBay UK on the basis of the
new UK law banning modern replica samurai swords used in street
crime, though the UK law does not affect antique and collectible
swords such as I collect. Although I was resident in Spain and was
listing my swords on eBay dot com (USA), my account was with eBay
UK and they periodically removed my items for no legitimate reason.
In the end I got fed up with eBay, the fact I was being charged
for wrongly removed legitimately listed items, and most of all regarding
their attitude as it was very clear US sellers were treated far
better than non-US sellers. I also hated the amount of fraud on
eBay and the fact certain eBay seller features protect dishonest
sellers. I REALLY do not like eBay and am much better off without
them.
I have always tried to do an exceptional job presenting my items
accurately and taking care of anyone who bought from me. You can
see my 100% positive eBay feedback here; snr_sword
feedback on ebay. I now sell some items by auction on vbid.me
and you can see my 100% positive feedback there: snr_sword

So please feel confident when you buy from me. I try to include
any issues with a sword in the description plus provide large /
good quality images of the items upon request. Many people say how
honestly I described the item after they have bought and received
them.
I find collecting and buying swords exceptionally pleasurable.
However, I am not so keen on the antique sword "community"
and would caution anyone who starts collecting to be careful, even
wary. I have personally been cheated by so called experts in the
industry; cheated both on items I have bought from them and also
where they have falsely and maliciously defamed me to make a buck.
Like most "communities", nepotism is rife. Like with most
antiques dealers, many falsehoods are perpetuated. Like with many
"experts", misguided opinion is often stated as absolute
fact. I found it pays to be very careful about who you take advice
from and trust! Again, please see my feedback to have confidence
in me / SwordSales EU.
I myself buy from a number of sources. Some items come from individuals,
some from collectors, some from estate sales and some from auctions.
This can be a very fraught / risky business unless you know what
you are doing. Over the years, I have gained more and more experience,
including and especially knowing which auction houses to avoid!
At the end of the day, when you buy from me, you are buying from
a very experienced collector with a large library of reference books
/ material, who filters out the good from the bad and sells only
authentic, quality items that are honestly and accurately described.
Sure, I make a little money from it, but I truly believe the insurance
value of your buying from someone like me is well worth the small
premium.
