Early Japanese Katana (Sold) |
Possibly Kodachi era / 14C Japanese katana in later wood and brass
mounts.

Showing a fair amount "Fukure" (small forging flecks)
on the 87.8 cm / 67 cm cutting edge blade, I believe this to be
quite old, maybe 14C. Very indistinct asaki-notare style hamon.
Attractive simple wooden and brass mounts. The blade has been conventionally
cleaned over the years but offers the prospect of a very fine blade
with a good polishing.

Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
